The liturgical year, or church calendar, begins the first Sunday of Advent, which is four Sundays before Christmas. The Catholic liturgical year revolves around two feasts---Christmas and Easter. This first half of the liturgical year is known as "Christ our Light" and includes Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, and the baptism of our Lord.
