You know what I found in the cupboard today? Sprinkles. For Christmas cookies. Several different kinds of sprinkles. They weren't there a few days ago. They must be a little 'hint' from my dear husband. I sent him to the grocery store a few days ago with a list of things to buy...but sprinkles were not on the list. I think that he's trying to tell me something. He loves cookies. Well, more appropriately, he loves anything that is sugary and sweet. And Christmas cookies would have to be on the top of his list of favorites. And I hate to bake. More appropriately, I hate to bake Christmas cookies. Especially Christmas cookies. Probably because if I am going to bake, I just want to get it done and over with. I don't want to mess with rolling out dough, cookie cutters, frosting and sprinkles. I just want to be able to dump and mix and be done with it in less than an hour. But it really doesn't seem appropriate to make chocolate chip cookies for Christmas cookies. So, I guess I'll have to dig out the special recipes and gather all the kids and kidlets around the table, find the cookie cutters and rolling pin, and make at least one batch of cut-out, frosted and sprinkled sugar cookies. It's a good thing that the children's enthusiasm for these kinds of things is contagious.
Just call me scrooge. Bah-hum-bug.
