Earlier this past week Colter and some of his sisters were out building on the tree fort. They were working on putting some of the floor on, and then they had plans for putting up a railing. Apparently he leaned over a bit too far and fell out of the fort, landing on the woodsy floor beneath him. The girls walked a stunned boy up to the house---there were lots of tears and lots of blood and a very scraped up arm. They all kept saying thank goodness they had moved a big rock that was directly below the fort, in the same spot where he landed. The next day he had a start of a nice scab and a big bruise around the cuts & scrapes. On another recent day, before we had even eaten breakfast, Colter came to me with big tears in his eyes and a bloody nose. When I asked what had happened, he told me that he was running down the hallway with a blanket over his head and crashed into the wall…and that’s why his nose was bleeding and yes, it hurt him very much.
A few days ago Colter was outdoors wandering around the yard with the BB gun, hoping that a squirrel would appear and he could take aim. When it became apparent that no squirrel was going to venture near him, he climbed onto the trampoline and began aiming and shooting at a nearby row of trees. At one point he missed the tree and instead shot a hole right through a tiki torch that we have sticking out of the ground near our firepit, just beyond the row of trees. The BB went in one side of the torch and out the other side and the citronella came pouring out of the sides. We all just laughed, because, really, it wasn’t too bad of a shot, even though it was an accident.
Silly boy.
