August revisited

My birthday.  It rolled around again, just like it has for the last fifty one years.  I try and treat it like it's just another day - but my family never really allows that to happen.  They made cupcakes and had them decorated so scrumptiously.  Later, we had a campfire and several of us gathered together for a fun evening.  It was all very simple, but thats how I like it best. 

My kids and the hubby are too dang good to me - they surprised me with a new camera.  And I was really surprised too, which is rather rare since I pride myself in knowing almost everything that goes on within the family.  Ha!  Not sure how they pulled this one off, but they certainly did...everyone knew about it but me.  I need to step things up a bit and pay better attention, I think.  I was very surprised.  I love the new camera.  And it's gotten used practically daily and has been broken in real good these last few months already.

   Our little campfire in the evening....with kids running around and dancing in the grass, climbing on the woodpile, swinging in the tire swing, sparklers and a few firecrackers, too...

And my wise-guy boy put several sparklers inside a crack in a tree and lit them with the torch and we all stood there watching, blinded by the light for about fifteen seconds....

And we do silly things like go and lay in the middle of the road and pose for pictures in the dark....

It was a very good day, a good birthday.  Thank you to my family.  I am blessed.
