(August) Sandpit

Wayne, Colter, Jon, Laura & Ryan all headed out for the sandpit - it's one of their favorite places to go and blow off some steam and ride like crazy.  I think it had started out that it was supposed to be just Laura & Ryan going - but like everything around here, word got out what was happening and others invited themselves and just showed up. Ha, it happens all the time!  Just one of the joys of a large family, I guess!  Shasta and James also went to watch for a while.  And Jon didn't ride since he was still recuperating from his knee surgery a few weeks earlier...so I shoved the camera in his hand as he was walking out the door and told him to take pictures.  And he did a great job!  But I'm sure he would have rather been riding than shooting pictures. 
The below pics are Laura - she rides like crazy but always feels refreshed and energized after a good ride...

Ryan on the 4-wheeler --- he also rode Laura's dirtbike, but no pictures of that...

Wayne - a little crazy - apparently Jon had to remind him to settle down and be careful at least once.  Ha, I find that funny!  It's usually the other way around.  A sign of times to come, I wonder?  Ha!

Colter rode too --- and then scouted around for junk that had been dumped out there...

Ooops, a little crash.  It happens, even to the best of riders.  The sand out there is thick and not the easiest to ride through - way different than riding on a track.  But they do pretty dang good - and they come home sore and really tired out, sometimes still feeling it in their arms and legs for a few days afterwards.  What a workout!

And by that evening Laura was sporting bruises - these two bruises were from when she hit her handlebars during a crash --- it darkened and became larger as the week rolled on.  She also had a bruise on her arm and other leg.  Yeah, she rides hard...
