just sharing a few little
{but precious}
moments from today - with pictures.
***
early this morning colter was outdoors getting chores done.
feeding the chickens and dogs.
he also carried a big bag of chicken feed from the garage out to the coop.
he's a good boy.
strong, too.
he can hoist those big fifty pound bags up onto his shoulder with no problem at all.
i keep telling him he's building nice muscles.
it'll make the girls swoon someday.
he rolls his eyes at me.
he's good with little kids too.
his young nieces and nephews adore him.
this morning both james and elsie went outside with him.
it was cold out.
they wore boots and warm jackets.
and they followed uncle colter around
and he walked a much slower pace just for them,
even though he had quite a load in his arms.
i was watching from the window and thought it was so sweet.
i grabbed the camera and ran outside and yelled for him to stop a minute so i could get a photo.
he yelled back at me,
"MOM! its heavy, i'm NOT gonna pose for pictures"
and kept walking.
whoa - i guess he told me.
i snapped a few pics anyway.
***
this afternoon the kids got their halloween costume catalog
in the mail that they had ordered a few weeks back.
the little kids were pumped and pretty much devoured and drooled
over all the costumes within its pages.
even james got into it.
and as lisa, jordaan & colter walked into the room they
were also sucked into all the excitement.
james was excited over several of the girly costumes.
a little too excited according to colter & jordaan.
as james pointed to the pastel princess costumes and strawberry shortcake costumes,
i could hear the big boys exclaiming,
"no buddy, thats gay...you haveta be this or this..."
and they pointed to the more obvious boy costumes.
they were doing their best to talk james into being
a motorcycle boy or batman.
hard as they tried,
they weren't able to convince the two year old otherwise
and he continued to be a bit too attracted to the
glitter and pinkness of those princesses.
ha!
and as we all know, that's not a cool thing in this family!
***
deer hunting season is right around the corner.
like most boys, colter has big plans.
he has his trail cam set up in the woods
and every afternoon checks to see if there are any images on it.
much to his surprise, for the past three days, he's had several images of deer.
jordaan is also a hunter.
his family's property butts up to ours.
jordaan was over this afternoon after school
and as he, colter and lisa sat around the kitchen table eating
{eating is a popular thing to do in this house}
they were also checking the images from the trail cam.
besides the obvious deer images, there was also a few images
of some shadowy thing,
as well as some weird glowing eyes in one photo.
whatever it was, it's not of a deer.
and its too small for bigfoot.
{smile}
but the boys had a few theories.
i like to listen to these young men talk.
well, all young guys actually.
all young people, on the brink of adulthood, always make me smile.
i love their way of thinking.
well, most of the time, anyway.
{smile}
