-they began by floating around on the big raft with most of them fully clothed, in order to prove to their dad & I that they wouldn't get wet. Well, guess what? Little brother was on the raft---and so none of them stayed dry for long.
-and they continued floating around in the pool amid the various pieces of debris, as though they'd just landed on Gilligan's Island or something.

They looked funny, but didn't realize it
He looks like a frog!

They played on the 'Slip & Slide'
-they tried to gracefully walk up & down the center of it without falling-they tried their hardest to not get wet because it was "sooo cold"
-they tried to fill up a bucket with the water that was spraying out of the edges of the 'slip & slide'
-they played in the mud and dug several little holes in the soggy grass at the bottom of the 'slip & slide' until mom & dad noticed and told them to stop
-they decided the pool might be more fun, after all...

They ate cherries!
Our cherry bushes have lots of little cherries---the kids are eating them by the hand-fulls, left and right, morning, noon & night. We are once again treading carefully when barefoot outside---there are lots of little pits in the yard and around (and sometimes on) the back-deck...courtesy of the spitting children...*********
They had a campfire
-Jessica stopped over for a Sunday evening visit and said, "Lets have a campfire!"-the kids dragged lawnchairs from various parts of the yard down to the fire-pit, along with blankets, bug-spray, sweatshirts and a few snacks, too
-no s'mores for us---instead we ate homemade, fresh, strawberry jelly on bread (courtesy of Shasta who made the jelly with Jon's grandma the day before...thanks Shas, it was delish!)
-our campfire turned into a blazing bonfire---the flames were leaping! The firepit had been lined with lots of old pine cones, broken twigs & pieces of log
-while the rest of us sat around the fire enjoying the crackling flames, Colter, our self-appointed fire-man, kept the fire burning, burning, burning...-the fire was hot---so the boy wore his dad's welding helmet so he could get a bit closer to keep feeding those flames...he looked like an alien!

-it was 11:00 pm when we finally called it a night. Most of the kids dropped into bed exhausted with smoky hair and dirty feet...and hopefully dreamed sweet dreams of a fun-filled, family-filled weekend*********
