This is Ryan, Laura's guy. I think I should call him a 'biker dude' since he's into biking. He has his Harley he rides around during the warmer months, (in fact, it was because of the Harley in the first place that he and Laura even started dating, but that's a whole 'nother story), and he has some other motorcycles, as well as his Mountain bikes. He's kind of a mountain biking extrordinarre. I hear he's very very good at it and quite skilled. I just think he's a cool guy no matter what.
On this day he entered into a bike race --- on ice, on the frozen lake! Not sure what the exact occasion was, but it was some sort of Mountain biking ice-festival thingy going on in town. Wayne and a few of the kids went to watch the race. And since Laura had to work that Saturday, we told her someone would take photos for her...and so as they walked out the door, it was Marissa (11) who grabbed the camera and took several photos of the event. Ryan decided to ride this trike thingy instead of his mountain bike - and I really know nothing about anything I'm trying to write about, so I don't know what else to say about it. Except I think it's kinda cool at the things the 'northern folk' do around these parts during the cold winter months.....

A few weeks prior to the bike festival, there was an ice-fishing contest on the same lake in town. There was also a showing of vintage snowmobiles as well as other cool, fun happenings out on the ice that day....people not only fish in hopes of winning prizes, but they also dress up in various costumes, some bring their grill and barbecue, camp chairs are set up, coolers of beer are opened and people just chill, games are played - like musical chairs (last year, Laura won that game!) music is played and people can dance and so on and so forth. It's just a fun mid-winter outside celebration on the ice! Last year my family went - but this year only a few of them went. Life gets busy and hectic and a little crazy at times...can't do it all.
Laura and Ryan went with his family and friends - it was quite a group of people they were with and they were all dressed up in cool costumes. Laura and Ryan were elected to be the "king and queen" and had to dress accordingly. Ha, good times and good memories, for sure!
And Wayne and Colter fished - but didn't catch anything. Ceara and Ted were also there, but they also had no luck with fishing. Laura and Ryan didn't fish. Instead, Ryan showed his vintage snowmobiles and the two of them drove them around in the short little 'parade' and then they did their king and queen thing and paraded around for a few minutes with their group.
