campfire!

we were invited to jessica & nicks one recent evening

for a campfire & s'mores.

it was four of our kids and us

and jessica & nick and their three littles.

this little man had to show us his new skills

of riding a two-wheeler

(with a little help from the training wheels)

he did very well

as you can tell by the big smile on his face!

and when we got home a few hours later

our electricity was out.

not only was our house darker than dark

but the whole neighborhood was as well.

and all of the neighboring little town a few miles away

was without power too.

it lasted for a few more hours, came back on for a short time,

and then went back out for awhile.

exciting.

we love our little oil lamps.

makes us feel kinda like

little house on the prairie.

except we live in the woods.
