*********
We drove to the top...the scene before us was amazing! But it also made me nervous...this mama had visions of her little kids tumbling over the edge.
What a diverse state we live in!
*********over the river, across the dam and bridge, through the woods, up hills and down hills...all in a day's adventure!
Lots of walking was done around our campsite...
The kids calculated that if they went back and forth six times to the bathrooms/shower house, then they had walked a mile. Since they were not allowed to walk up to the 'brick building' themselves without an adult accompanying them, we all got in a lot of exercise!
There was also a huge bluff to climb directly behind our campsite, with very steep trails, that the kids insisted on climbing often. We also walked uptown several times to look around at the quaint little town...
It’s amazing how much dirt the youngest kids collected on their hands, feet, legs and face. The showers were pretty much out for them, since the shower heads didn’t adjust and were basically in a position for taller people…plus the water came out with such force that it probably would have knocked a small child over. So instead we just washed them up best we could with washcloths and water that we had warmed on our camp stove. We went to Jon’s little farmhouse one evening and were able to give them a bath in his tub. Not that the kids minded being dirty, because I’m sure they never noticed how dirty they were…and besides, we were camping, so it’s perfectly acceptable to have a little (or a lot) of dirt between the fingers & toes, right?!
